TOP 6 WINTER HACKS ❅ How to survive the cold!

hi welcome to my channel I’m Patricia
and I decided to make a video today on how to survive the cold I grew up in the
Caribbean and I had quite a lot of difficulties getting used to the colder
climate so I’ve come up with some tips especially because my parents are moving to the Netherlands this year in order to help them but also maybe help someone
else to time them learn from the mistakes that I made and the things that
took me almost 10 years to learn this is the first time I felt really happy in
winter you want to know what I figured out my golden combination or how to stay
happy in the winter so my first tip and maybe it’s obvious to some but it wasn’t
to me it’s actually to get some vitamin D I hope this was at the drugstore and
it’s really not that expensive you take one a day or at least this
version you take one a day and especially people of color tend to have
vitamin D deficiency during the winter I think that subliminally this does help
me of course if you can afford to go I get some natural vitamin D in the winter
that’s even better if you can go to a warmer climate for Christmas holiday for
example but it’s not an option for everybody so just at least make sure
that you get some vitamin D ok so my second tip would be to make sure that
your skin is feeling fresh so you’re working on the inside by supplementing
vitamin D but you also want to make sure that you’re making the outside feel
good use a double method the climate does change how your body reacts to the
weather and it just doesn’t produce as much fat as it is it once did so I have
a pretty extensive skincare regimen that I follow start in the morning obviously
when you’re washing yourself feel great you take your towel and drying your face off you’re actually taking off all of the
oils that were on your face and you’re within maybe an hour and half an hour
you’re on your bike or I’m gonna get a car for other home countries the cold
wind is just totally drying out your face and the cold wind is just totally aging it so what I
would start with in the morning is to make sure that you have very nice
hydrating type of cream for me this is one that
works as Clinique Moisture Surge its like a gel it’s a cream gel and this one is
really also prepares for daytime and then when you come home obviously the
potency of your first cream will be way low and you want to boost yourself so
what I’ve been using as the night cream is this cream from Biodermal that’s
for dry and sensitive skin I don’t get breakouts from it however I do feel like
in the morning I guess I don’t feel like it’s really there anymore
so once or twice a week – in the dead of winter – I will actually use a thicker
night cream and it’s actually not even in that cream, its a regeneration mask
maybe you should try to use it as a mask first and I actually just took a
face mask and I left it on the entire night one time by accident and then the next day i thought wow! make sure that you have a good face care regime make sure that you’re feeling fit obviously use hand
lotions and foot lotions make your body is moist from the inside and
out so another tip that I would have for you is actually I started my video
holding this one this is pretty much my buddy
during winter it’s like my permanent accessory in the winter drinking so much
I think Dutch people drink quite a lot of tea I’m sorry you can hear
something who is my dog is drinking some water those people drink a lot of tea
Dutch people drink a lot of coffee it’s you also love to drink chocolate milk
and I think we really love basically having something warm close to us and
I’m constantly drinking tea and making sure obviously I stay hydrated but I
know cold water does not seem too appealing when you’re already feeling a
bit chilly but having a nice cup of tea oh my goodness in just a few when you’re
standing at the station and it’s so cold just go grab a cup of tea you know cost
you two euro and it really warms you up I know what Asia and you have like the
heating pads I think I saw them in Hong Kong once but you don’t really have
those lying around here this can act is not for you so just grab a cup of tea
get warm all right so my fourth tip actually I think a brilliant one Hey I
think someone wants to say hi to you say hi YouTube so I think my fourth tip
is actually super genius and it was something that I only I’m so I online
somewhere this year and I hadn’t realized it before but it’s basically to
later your pantyhose on top of each other
so I mean I like looking cute in the winter and I don’t think you know
actually be wearing ties in the winter and I think there’s nothing as whimsical
and cute as a skirt but also I feel like jeans sometimes are not as thick as you
would like them to be so what I learned is actually to double up on your pan
and I have a trick for the fashionistas out there I have some of the thinner
pantyhose the black time do that what I do this would not be an example that
this one’s quite matte actually I put a sheer pantyhose first and then over that
I will put my my black pantyhose and it you can’t tell that you’re wearing two
pantyhose but it feels warmer than jeans do sometimes and as I said you can make
this one a super thick material and this one have it be a thinner material and
you wouldn’t eat notes but otherwise also just too thick black ones on top of
each other are also super comfortable and will make
sure that you’re warm all winter long and still be where your cute clothes and
I think personally for me at least it’s warmer than just by myself so alright so
the next step I would have is regarding clothes so the first time I’ve actually
got super super and I think that’s why I realized oh my goodness it wasn’t the
weather me really so I like to look cute as I mentioned before and I would wear
for example this code and while it’s really nice looking it’s also actually
and it’s a winter coat it’s also actually not so thick so when it’s
raining or it’s really windy it just doesn’t do it doesn’t do the trick and
I’m just shivering in a matter of time here just hold the whole day and I think
that’s something you can wear when it’s not windy at all outside and it’s also
kind of code that you can wear when it’s really sunny maybe because when it’s
sunny and it’s cold outside you can sometimes get warmed up way more than
any other thing so Celsius is also something that I just really had to
learn to read in terms of also not just looking at a number but also the app so
much wind is there what’s the the song situation like etc so for me this coat
has literally changed my freakin life she’s so good it’s a plush coat it’s
from lazara it wasn’t even like it that crazy but
it’s just the thickness it’s it’s a first of all this is a cold
that wind cannot come through which helps it’s also actually semi rain group
so if you spray this with with you have these water protection sprays is that
it’s completely waterproof and it’s got a hood having a hood it’s so so so
useful for in the winter and I know this is not like the most trendy coat I
thought but it’s gonna hood it’s waterproof its wind proof and it’s super
thick so I will be literally sweating when I’m writing with this coat on for
more than 20 minutes so this is really the first coat that’s really made me
feel super super warm in the winter and I know it’s not super fashionable but
think of practicality like honestly think of practicality and know yourself
and know there’s a coat out there that’s really warm for you as well like don’t
be fooled to think that there’s not maybe this is a given but I think a six
tip that I would love to give you and I think this is also one of those things
that only dawn on media recently given certain things that changed in my life
is to just enjoy the winter enjoy the seasons and to come and go don’t be
stuck and hung up on a summer summer and the Sun is out and winter be grateful
for it when there’s blue skies in the winter even though it’s super cold and
the wind is loyd be grateful for the day and if you’re lucky enough to live in a
place where it snows be grateful for those beautiful winter wonderland days
and know that there’s so many people that would love to experience that one
day I think for me it’s just been so life-changing to just be grateful for
what I’ve got and to realize how wonderful the winter can be and all the
Christmas lights and the coziness it gives to you I think that helps a lot
and then of course just you know the next season is already spring and then
there’s going to be flowers everywhere so
it’s always it’s close by so just try to think positive about the hold and I know
I’ve read this quote one time and I’m gonna butcher it probably I think it’s
wrong more than to the Nordic somewhere but it was something like there’s no
such thing as a bad weather there’s always interesting as fat clothing so
take that with a grain of salt do it as you please and don’t forget to just stay
one this research if you have any other tips that helped you survive winter
something that I didn’t mention in this video that could be useful for me
