to the orphanage last year for another project, I talked to
the board members and some of the staff. They explain about how,
the girls, when they finish some go to schools, some go
to college, some don’t. So I thought there was a need
to teach the girls different skills, life skills. As we know,
a lot of Palestinian girls, they get married
and they don’t go to work. So this is a perfect thing
for women to do at home. I learned by having
to decorate cakes. So I thought it was a very good
skill to pass it to other people. Especially in this part
of the world with the cake decorating,
the basics of icing. We also work with fondant.
And after this project ends I think it will be a very good
source of income (women chattering in background) the flower making,
the sugar flower making so the girls can make them,
box them and sell them to the local
community here. On a personal level,
it’s extremely rewarding to see…
And I told many people everybody that I had encountered
and asked me about any person in the world,
if you give them the opportunity and the exposure to knowledge that this only takes 1 percent
to show you how to do something and show you the means and
the ways to accomplish something. That’s all it takes.
So they all know that now they can make icing,
make a cake decorate a cake, but also get
the confidence to in the future, like,
be resourceful and accomplish other projects
in their life.
