Minced Beef & Onion Pie ( The Best Meat pie Recipe Ever )


Ok, so here it is… Minced beef and Onion Pie I’ve been asked , loads and loads of times by many different people to make one of these, so I’m going to do it now. This is my 200 th video up on Youtube and I’m going to do the classic, chip shop Beef and Onion Pie Ok first thig we are going to do We are going to get our onions chopped up, two onions And we are going to get these frying in a pan with some oil and beef dripping So with your onions all chopped up, what we are going to do is to get them fried off in this pan pretty rapidly Ok ? So we are going to want to put in 40 g of lard ….And on top of that you are going to need to add about a table spoon of oil So, there we go… While those onions are cooking away We are going to get 1 teaspoon of dried Oregano Straight on top of those onions So, while these onions are softening up What we are going to do is make up a little bit of a beef vegetable stock OK ? So down here I have got 3 beef stock cubes 1 Chicken stock cube , some black pepper and some Veg Bouilion, or you can use a veg stock cube. Your going to want 1 teaspoon of veg bouilion and quarter of a teaspoon of the black pepper. So with our stock made up We are going to get our minced beef, straight into these onions. OK, so…. with our beef cooking in that pan, what we are going to do now is the secret to getting the texture right with this minced beef. You need to get yourself a potatoe masher And we are going to mash that beef and the onions In the pan as they cook…… So once this minced beef and onion is pretty much cooked So it is not pink any longer, you want to get yourself… 60 g of plain flour into this meat Ok, so at this stage you want to get your stock into that meat mixture, OK ? Keep a little eye on how thick it is going Get it to the consistency you want it Probably take around 400 ml There you go…… and lastly add a little gravy browning to get it the right clour. And there we go , so what we are going to do is set this pie filling aside to let it cool down to room temperature And the rest of the pie is all pretty self explanitory Your going to need to get yourself some puff pastry and a bit of egg wash……. Now, iv’e used puff pastry that I have made So if you want to make your own puff pastry, there is a recipe up on th ‘ i ‘ button right now, and it is perfect, beautifull puff pastry But you can used shop bought stuff ….If you want to…. So lets get the pastry rolled out Pie dish lined…..And get the pie filling Inside. And there you go , One minced beef and onion pie, as simple as you like. It’s all about the filling, get the filling right and that pie is going to taste beautiful. Do take the time to make your own puff pastry Makes the whole world of difference… All we need to do now is to egg wash this Get it in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees c For about 20 minutes, untill that pastry is nice and golden brown Enjoy, my classic, Minced Beef and Onion, Chip shop pie
