How To Make Marzipan Candy & Cake Decorations : Rolling Marzipan

Hi I’m Rachel Dayan for Expert Village. Now
I’m going to show you how to cover a cake with a thin layer of marzipan it is much nicer
then using a heavy cream frosting. I’m going to use a napkin, I’m going to put it out/open
it and wet it down because when you use a smooth base for you work you don’t want your
baking paper to move around. So I’m just going to wet it a little bit with water until stick
to the bottom, then I’m going to use 2 wax papers one to put on top of the napkin and
the other one I’m going to put on top of the marzipan, the third thing I’m going to use
is a measuring tape to measure the cake so I can know what size of marzipan layer I need
to make. A roll a regular rolling pin to flatten down the marzipan and powder sugar which I’m
going to use later on to take the marzipan out of the baking sheet. I’m going to use
marzipan with out food coloring although you can use any food coloring that you pick for
you cake topping. Our cake is 7 inches so we need to do 6 inches bigger then that which
means our marzipan is going to be 13 inches in diameter I flatten down a piece of marzipan
which should be ready be enough to make 13 inches in diameter. I flatten it down because
it is going to make it easier for me to roll it. I’m going to put the baking paper on top
and it is ready to be rolled down.
