How to make chocolate donuts – Chocolate Cake
Doughnut Recipe Hello and welcome back to In the Kitchen with
Matt, I am your host Matt Taylor. Today I will show you how to make chocolate
donuts; these are going to be chocolate cake doughnuts. I had a request to make chocolate donuts,
so here we go, let’s make chocolate donuts. They are really easy to do, let’s get started. All right first let’s preheat our oven to
350 degrees. Now let’s go ahead and mix our dry ingredients. I have one cup of all purpose flour in here,
one fourth cup of cocoa powder, one third cup of granulated sugar, 1 tsp. of baking
powder, 1 half tsp. of baking soda, and 1 half tsp. of salt. And then with a whisk let’s go ahead and mix
this together, and if you like if you prefer, you can use a sifter. Now for the wet ingredients, 3 Tbsp. of butter,
which I have melted, 1 tsp. of vanilla extract, 1 cup of milk, I am using whole milk but you
can use whatever milk you want, and one large egg. Okay and we will go ahead and give this a
good whisk. Okay now what we are going to do is we are
going to add our flour mixture. Just a little bit at a time, probably about
a 3rd of it at a time. You can use a hand mixer for this if you like. Rest of our flour mixture. Okay and then we mix it together until it
forms a nice cake batter like this. All right now what we do is I take my donut
pan, if you don’t have a doughnut pan, I put a link down below in the description where
you can pick one up, and I lightly sprayed it with kitchen spray. And then we go in here and get some batter,
and just go ahead and just fill this up about three quarters of the way full, get a little
bit more in there, all right, once you have them all filled up, what we do is we bake
them in the oven at 350 degrees, for 7 to 9 minutes, until when you poke it with a toothpick
it comes out clean. Once they come out of the oven they will look
like that. Ready to go, and then what you do is you let
them cool for about 5 to 10 minutes before you start to handle them. Now what we are going to do is we are going
to make our chocolate glaze. So I have one cup of powdered sugar, and I
am going to add 3 Tbsp. of cocoa powder, then I have 5 Tbsp. of milk, but we are not going
to add it all at once, because it depends on how thick we want our glaze, so I am going
to start with that and see where it gets us. Ok this glaze this is a little bit too thick,
go ahead and add a little bit more milk, and that is about how you want it, but I am going
to add just a little bit more, not all of it, just a little more. All right that is about what I want it to
be; it will resemble a thick chocolate milk. All right then what we will do is take one
of our doughnuts, it will come right out, and then if is just going to go ahead and
go face down in it, like that, and then I am going to go ahead and put it on here, and
then what we can do is take some sprinkles. Now you can go half way like I did like that,
or you can go ahead and um submerge the whole thing, make sure your hands are clean, then
put it on your rack to dry. Okay and then you just let them sit and let
the chocolate dry for a little bit, probably about 15 to 20 minutes and then you are good
to go. Or you can eat them with the chocolate nice
and runny. All right our chocolate doughnuts are done,
chocolate cake donut covered in a chocolate glaze, mmm awesome. They were really easy to make, if I can make
them, you can make them. I am Matt Taylor this has been another episode

  2. in the kitchen with Matt I wanted to say that I don't have 350 degree temperature in my oven if we bake the donuts in 250 degree temperature how much time I would give them

  3. We tried this for the first time. Taste is good except for the glaze, not perfect. Anyway, will bake again. Please check our video https://youtu.be/MMIK-pycGGU Thanks for sharing your recipe.

  4. Could you make vanilla ones of these with chocolate frosting by just leaving out the cocoa out the batter mix? Or would you need to add something else? These look amazing ❤️

  5. Hello sir, thank you so much for the recipe I'll try them later. btw i have a donut robot but finding the right mix is really challenging cause they never come out looking good ☹ Do you have any cake donut recipe that you can help me with?

  6. I am soon gonna make this.. It looks so delicious and so simple.. Thank you soooooo much for giving this superb recipe..
    P.S- I love your voice!!!

  7. Hello Matt, I have tried many baked doughnut recipes was about to give it up. Then I found your video on line . I really like your step by step directions. Absolutely delicious . Do you have a cook book out ?

  8. Very good! I haven't made chocolate ring donuts before, just ring donuts; so I might give them a try. I sometimes, very carefully slice mine in half horizontally, and then piped heavy whipped cream onto the bottom half, and then dip the top half in glaze, being careful not to put the top half back on the bottom part of the donut with the cream on it, until the glaze is set. My Uncle loves them.

I think he's gonna love the chocolate ones quite as much! 🙂

  9. Hello there Matt, thanks first of all for the amazing recipes. I have a request for u about donuts without egg. I hope to hear from you soon. With regards,

  10. Hey Matt I enjoy your videos they’re very helpful but can you try making the Mexican dessert Flan ?

  11. Hi Matt! Loved your step by step tutorial. I would love to use sweetened Godiva cocoa. How much sugar should I take out to make it this way? In the donut and topping. Thank you very much!

  12. we made these over the weekend and I have two (2) questions… the chocolate seemed a little bitter, would I add more sugar to counter that?? the icing was sucked up the donut, I am wondering if you think that frosting would do the same?

  13. Hello in my school we ate cake pops and I liked it . Can you teach us how to make them. There are other videos on the internet but I think your videos are much easier to follow so can you please make a video about how to make cake pops. Thanks

  14. Thanks so much for this recipe. I really didn't think that the donuts would come out, & after I made them I was so happy they turned out. They are better then store bought, & the bakery. My husband use to work in the bakery. I appreciate your hard work. I am blessed to try more of your recipes. Thanks again.

  15. We should be more honest and say it's a caked donuts lol it's exactly the way we make chocolate cake 😂😂😂

  16. Finally i found your doughnuts recipe im so happy 😍you know i follow your cinnamon recipe niw your dough

  17. Matt, I’ve made these twice but am having a problem with the glaze hardening (my glaze is without the cocoa powder). First time I dipped the slightly warm donuts into the glaze and the glaze soaked into the donut. Second try I waited until the donuts were completely cooled and used a thicker glaze and once again the glaze soaked into the donuts. I’m an experienced baker and have no idea what to try next. Thank you.

  18. Hi Matt! New to your channel, and just wanted to thank you for this recipe. Was looking for donut recipe that was easy enough to do with my children, and this recipe fit the bill. However, when it came to the icing… don’t like the taste of powered sugar and couldn’t get the taste of it out of the icing. decided to put some Smuckers fudge ice cream topping into icing to try and get rid of powered sugar taste, but that still didn’t work. So then decided to try some cream cheese (4 oz) and that seemed to work. The icing came out a nice fudgy flavor with a hint of cream cheese.
