(Playful Music) Hey y’all! Welcome back to my channel! So today I’m gonna be making Charlie’s smash cake. We’re doing smash cake photos this
weekend and so I am making his cake for him. For those of you who are new here my name is Shawna,

Both of our kids, she has a little girl named Madison, and her daughter turns one about two weeks before Charlie does and we’re both doing smash cake photos this weekend so we decided we wanted to collab and show how we are making our kids smash cakes. So this recipe, for those of you who don’t
know, Charlie is sugar-free and so this recipe is sugar-free and egg free
because he is allergic to eggs. So I took a recipe and I modified it a little bit I took out the egg and added in some banana. It already had some banana in it but I added an extra banana because I took the egg out I’ll leave the original recipe linked down below and then I’ll also put in the description how I made it like the ingredients I used and the process a little bit. I’ll put directions down there for you
so make sure you check that out if you’re interested in making this recipe for your kids anyways let’s go ahead and get into the video Ok for this recipe you’re going to need maple syrup, whole milk, vanilla extract, 2 ripe bananas, some butter, just to butter and flour the pan, baking powder and baking soda, unsweetened applesauce with no sugar added, salt, cinnamon, and flour. And then a cake pan. You want to pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. Next you just want to butter and flour the cake pan that you’re going to be using so the cake doesn’t stick. Now I’m gonna put all the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix them together. So first I have the flour, the baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon all getting added to this bowl.
All the exact exact measurements will be in the description down below so if you
want those make sure you check them out down there. I’m just going to add those all to this bowl and then mix them together and then set that aside. Now I’m going to add the wet ingredients to my KitchenAid mixer. So I’m going to add the bananas, the whole milk, the applesauce, the vanilla extract and the maple syrup. And then I’m just going to blend that all
together in the mixer until it’s all smooth. (Playful Music) After you blend up the wet ingredients,
you’re just going to fold in the dry ingredients, making sure not to over mix. (Playful Music) Then you just want to pour the batter into the cake pan filling the cake pan about halfway full For this recipe I used a six inch cake pan and it took this entire batch of mix. If
you’re using four inch cake pans you can use two and make it a double layer cake.
I ended up doubling the recipe in the end and making another layer after this
one was finished cooking. (Playful Music) Then you just want to put it in the oven the recipe said for 20 to 23 minutes. But I ended up needing to cook it
for about 30 minutes total because it wasn’t done when I took it out after 20. (Playful Music) After 30 minutes it was perfect and I
took it out and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes and then I’m just gonna
flip it onto a wire rack. (Playful Music) I forgot to film this, but I did end up making a
second layer. I just repeated the entire process. Now to make the whipped cream topping. You’re gonna need heavy whipping cream and some vanilla extract if your kids eat sugar you can put sugar in it to you but we’re not
going to do sugar today. so I used the whole carton of whipping cream
and I put it in my KitchenAid mixer and with the wire whisk I just whisked
it until it was a whipped cream consistency. I also added in some vanilla extract, that you just do to taste. We ended up doing about two teaspoons
full of vanilla extract (Playful Music) So here you can see it’s getting very
nice and thick in consistency. So we’re gonna go ahead and stop the mixer. and take this whipped cream and start putting it on the cake (Playful Music) So after I finish icing it, I used blueberries
on the top to and make a little one and then I also put them around
the bottom sides of the cake just for some added decoration. (Playful Music) And this is the final cake!
I really like how it turned out. I think it looks like an actual cake even though it is
completely sugar-free! and Charlie loved it! He especially loved the blueberries on top. He ate all of those during his little cake smash session. That’s it you guys I hope you
