Today I will be making chocolate cake. This is a perfect cake to satisfy your chocolate craving. Adults and kids alike, will be delighted with this yummy cake. This recipe will make 16 pieces. To make chocolate cake we will need: 1.5 cups all purpose flour (plain flour or maida) 2 tablespoons cornstarch or arrowroot 1/4 cup cocoa powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, at room temperature. 1 tablespoon vanilla essence 1 tablespoon vinegar, I am using the rice vinegar. 1 cup of sugar 1 cup soft/silken tofu I am using the silken tofu. And about 1/3 cup of milk, use as needed. For icing, I am using chocolate ganache. For that we need 1/3 cup of heavy cream 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, semi sweet. And 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence. First I will mix all the dry ingredients together except the sugar. All purpose flour Cocoa powder Cornstarch Baking soda Baking powder And salt Mix together really good. Now I am going to sift this flour 3 times making sure that everything is mixed together really well. So this is the first time. And I am going to do 2 more times. As you can still see the chocolate on the top, it’s not mixed that well. So doing 3 times everything should be mixed really good. This is the third time and everything is mixed really well. Now I am going to mix the butter and sugar together. Butter Sugar Vinegar Vanilla essence So just mix it. So after everything is mixed. I am using the electric mixer. And I will mix it about for 2 minutes. Till everything is very smooth. This has been about 2 minutes. Butter and sugar is very smooth and very fluffy. So I am going to add the tofu, right in here. Again mix it. I am using again my electric mixer. So I will mix it for another minute. This has been about 1 minute and it’s mixed really well. But now as you see this is kind of a crumbly mixture. And now we are going to mix this with all our dry ingredients. Add the dry ingredients, slowly. Mix it. So everything is mixed really well. But as you see batter is very thick. So I will add some milk slowly. This should be in pourable consistency. But still thick paste. Now this is looking good. And I am ready to bake this. And I have used about 1/4 cup of milk. I am using 8×8 inch baking pan. And I have already greased it. So I am going to pour the mixture. And just spread it evenly. I am ready to bake the cake. I have already pre-heated the oven at 350 degree fahrenheit. Put the cake in the oven on middle rack, right in the center. To bake the cake it will take about 35 minutes. Kitchen has really nice aroma of chocolate. And I am ready to check if my cake is ready. And then just insert the knife and it should come out clean. Yes! cake is ready. So I will take it out. And it took me 30 minutes. Put it over the wire rack and let it cool for about 15 minutes. I am ready to make the chocolate ganache which I will be using as an icing over the cake. So heat is on, medium. Cream Just bring this to boil. Cream has come to boil. So I will turn off the heat. Now I am going to pour this over the chocolate. So I have already put the chocolate in the bowl. And here is the vanilla essence. Pour the cream right over. And keep mixing till all the chocolate is dissolved and it has become glossy. This takes about a minute. Chocolate ganache is ready. It has a very glossy finish. And as it will cool it will get thicker. So it’s time to take out the cake from the baking pan. So first I will run the knife all around. And put the plate over. Turn it. And then just tap it. Cake is looking really good. Cake is looking really good. This has to come to room temperature before we can serve the cake. Cake is ready. And I will cut the cake in 16 pieces. Just slice them. Cake smells so good. My grandkids are waiting. Cake is looking very moist. And I am going to now just put the ganache in the visual pieces. And I will pour the ganache right over. And I like when it drips all around. And it looks really yummy!
