DIY hand sanitizer with fresh aloe/COVID-19…recipe/formula from World Health Organization, WHO
DIY hand sanitizer with fresh aloe all my tools are washed and sterilized as well as sprayed with alcohol and allowed to air dry fresh aloe..eucalyptus oil,1 cup isopropyl alcohol 99% sterilized tools I’m re-using my hand sanitizer bottle down to my last 1 1/2 bottle. Stores and pharmacy are out and even the raw material are a bit scares to do DIY especially aloe vera gel. I’ve wash my hans and clean it with alcohol before star cutting it into the aloe to remove the jelly fresh aloe cut into pieces remove the spiky corner 1st and then remove the green skin be-careful when cutting cause it slippery then scoop the jelly out recipe says:- beat with a whisk to emulsify with the other ingredients… so here goes it start to look like jelly-like texture but still lumpy. so I whisked it some more now to get the precise measurement 1/2 cup natural aloe vera…recipes says, not to worry cause the isopropyl will preserve the fresh aloe from going bad 1 cup isopropyl alcohol 91% and greater(here I’ve 99%) add essential oil and vitamin E oil (15 drops each) now I start whisking to incorporate the ingredients to become homogenous gel The solution did not become homogeneous. whisking it is not working… for this process, you need a sterilized blender to emulsify all ingredients when the ingredients are combined, it became like this as you can see, it is not a gel but more of a spray. I’m happy with it anyways…as long as it fights COVID-19 I’m good. Especially happy that I have it for my little one to take outside with them when there is NO access to soap and water I did not have a sterilized sieve present so a few tiny pieces of aloe leave were there…if you decided to make it, you’ll need a strainer here I refill my hand sanitizer bottle I was curious why this hand sanitizer did not became a gel texture like this one so, I decided to do some additional research I tried shaking it to see if any changes will happen let test how it feels…I pour a bit into my hand then do the cleaning process, it smells good cause of the essential oil it’s a little sticky as I kept rubbing my hand, the aloe vera absorb and stickiness disappear my hand did not feel dry. I am satisfied with this spray and I made a second batch. Now it’s time to do some additional research… here is what the research says, most store bought aloe vera gel have some sort of thicken agent in them. For example 1/2 hot water +1 tbsp gelatin dissolved into the hot water then add aloe vera puree and cooked for some time will result in aloe vera gel (this information I found in the cosmetics research) I want to share this important information on hand sanitizer because we are all in need of it at present. Wether it’s a spray or a gel, once this hand sanitizer does it purpose; I’m thankful for the recipe from WHO and the website I found it on, that is, www.popsci.com. click in my description for more info. thank for watching, bye bye.
