DESPICABLE ME MINION CUPCAKES – NERDY NUMMIES

DESPICABLE ME MINION CUPCAKES – NERDY NUMMIES

Hey guys, it’s Ro! Welcome to another Nerdy
Nummies! Today I am gonna be making something that
has been requested for such a long time! And I got so many requests, today I’m gonna
be making from scratch, banana cupcakes and I’m gonna be decorating them to look
like…. Despicable Me Minions! They’re so cute! The things you will need, will be: Fresh bananas,
I have 4 bananas, you might need more or less, but 4 is a good number, just
to make sure you have enough. Salt, baking soda, vanilla extract, baking
powder, regular sugar, flour, 1 stick of butter, this is unsalted, 2 eggs. I have
a spatula for a tool, a whisk, this is a potato masher, but I’m gonna be using
it today as a banana masher, and a cupcake tray and I’ve lined them all with
these really cute, I found these at Target, they’re bright blue and that’s kind of like
the color of the Minion’s pants, their little overalls, so I thought that was so cute lined with those.
2 big mixing bowls, and, electric beater! Let’s put this all together.
Hee-hee-hee-hee! The first thing we’re gonna do is take our
big mixing bowl and we’re gonna mix together the dry ingredients. We’re gonna
mix together the salt, baking soda, baking powder, flour and sugar. And whisk it all
together. Add 1-1/2 cups of flour, 3/4 cup of sugar,
1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/2 a teaspoon of baking soda, 1/4 a teaspoon of
salt. Now you’re just gonna whisk everything together.
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh! Make sure it’s all combined. This is a Martha
Stewart recipe, so it’s pretty good! I’ll put a link down below to the recipe. Once that’s all mixed, you’re just gonna set
this off to the side and we’re gonna smash some bananas. I just peeled 4 bananas and
put them in this other bowl, and the recipe calls for a cup and a 1/2 of bananas,
recommended about 4 bananas, but I love bananas, so I’m not even gonna measure
it, the more banana the better! Now we’re just gonna take this potato smasher
and mash ‘em up. Oh yeah! Now you’re gonna add 1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla
extract. We’re gonna add our 2 eggs, we’re just putting all of our wet ingredients
in here. And your butter, it says melted butter, so I melted it a little bit,
it’s just really, really soft. It should just glide in there. Oh there we
go, perfect! Now I’m gonna mix all this up. And now we are going to combined our wet ingredients
and our dry ingredients. I’m just gonna pour the wet ingredients
into the dry ingredients bowl because… It’s bigger. Oh smells so good! And now you’re just gonna take a beater,
and mix it up until it’s all combined. Once you got your banana cupcake batter all
ready, we’re just gonna scoop it into these little cupcake trays. And I’m using
a tablespoon, and I just use 2 scoops. Once you’ve filled all of your cupcake trays,
you’re gonna heat your oven to 350 and bake for 18 minutes. And, just keep your
eye on ‘em, because as soon as they start to turn a little bit golden, they are
done. Every oven is different. While the cupcakes are baking, we are going
to decorate and make some little Minions! The things you’ll need will be:
Twinkies, they are now selling these again, and, if you don’t have twinkles, a really
good alternative are these little cookies. Anything that will look like the
Minion’s body. But today we are gonna be using Twinkies. What I did is I took a
bunch of Twinkies, and I put them in the fridge, and I just chopped them in 1/2. And
that’s gonna be the little Minion’s body. We are gonna be using sprinkles for the little
Minion’s hair, dee-dee-dee! You can use dark brown or black, whatever
you have available, Smarties candy for their little eyeballs, we’re gonna pick
out all the white ones. And then a little bit of frosting to make
their little glasses. The first thing that we’re gonna do to decorate
our little Minions is take our black frosting, with a number 3 tip, and we’re
gonna put some on top of their faces, and stick on top the white Smarties. I’ve
separated a lot of the white Smarties into this bowl so I could just pull from there.
And I’m gonna do a line all the way around. Now we’re gonna give minion a little
smile, because they’re pretty happy little minions. And little eyeballs! That’s what he looks like, I’ll pick it
up so you can see him. Ta-dew! Now you’re just gonna decorate all of them.
You can make a bunch of them and you can make their eyes going different ways,
and give them different personalities. And, you can’t forget, the minion that
only has 1 eyeball. I’m gonna do that 1 right now! So just have
fun with it and make your little Minions however you like! We’ve got all of our little Minions done
and our cupcakes just came out of the oven. They smell so good, they kind of smell like
banana bread… Yeah! So make sure that they’ve had plenty of
time to cool before you put frosting on. And I just have here, vanilla buttercream
frosting, I put it in a big plastic bag, and I dyed it blue, to look like the little
minion pants colors. And I have a big tip at the top, the size
that I’m using is an 807. And it’s just a smooth, a smooth round. Before I put the frosting on, I decided to
level the cupcakes, to make them a little bit flat by just taking a big knife
and just cutting across, so that the Minions will have a really flat surface to sit on.
I thought, yeah, that’s a good idea! Now I’m gonna frost! Go all the way around, and then boop in the
middle! Ta-da! Here are the Despicable Me Minion cupcakes
that we made! They are so cute! I love all of their little
faces! I made them all different, some are looking
up, down, cross-eyed, a-ha-ha, they’re so cute! Thanks you guys for suggesting it, I loved
making these, they were super easy, so if you are a beginner baker, these were
super, super easy to make. I would suggest it. And, I don’t know where the
idea for the Twinkie as the Minion originated from, I saw pictures of it on Reddit,
and Pintrest, a ton of different people making it, so I have no clue who to say thank
you to. So, if you know, leave me a comment down below
and I will put credit in there, I just, I don’t know where it came from! And, also, leave me a comment down below if
you have any other ideas for any other Nerdy Nummies and I will do my best
to make it happen! OK, thanks you guys, bye-bye! Huuuuuuh, a-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha, a-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha, a-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-cha… That was a Office
Steve Karrel joke, but he voices the character for Despicable… I have a piece of tape on my shoe… Side note.
