Hello, I am Madhura and welcome to MadhurasRecipe Marathi Today, let’s see how to prepare rava cake. We are making eggless rava cake We are not baking this cake in oven. Let’s see how to make this cake in pressure cooker. I am taking 1/4 cup ghee in a bowl. It’s cold here. So ghee was a bit solidified. I have heated ghee in microwave. If you want to use butter instead of ghee, Then you can use 1/2 cup butter instead of 1/4 cup ghee. Butter should be at room temperature, soft butter. I am adding 1/2 cup and 2 tbsp powdered sugar. We have to beat ghee and sugar. It should be light and fluffy. I have beated ghee and powdered sugar really good. You can see. It is light and fluffy. Let’s add 1 cup fine rava to this. This is very fine rava. I haven’t roasted it. We are using raw rava only. Though this is fine rava, I have blended it once in blender. Blending gives nice texture while baking rava cake. If you blend it once in blender. You can use raw rava if you don’t want to blend it. Let’s add 1 cup rava. Let’s mix everything well together. With the mixture of ghee and sugar. Once rava is mixed well with ghee and sugar mixture, let’s add 1/2 cup yogurt. Use yogurt at room temperature only. Do not use freeze cold yogurt. Use yogurt once it attains room temperature. Mix well once again. Yogurt is mixed really with rava. Once it gets fluffy, add 1/2 cup water. And add 3-4 drops vanilla essence. If you are using vanilla extract Then add 1 tsp vanilla extract. If you don’t have vanilla extract or essence, Then you can use cardamom powder or nutmeg powder too. It also tastes good with this. Once again mix it well together. No lumps of rava should be formed. Rava cake batter is already. You can see it’s consistency. Though it is a bit on runny side now, Rava absorbs water. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes. We have to preheat the pressure cooker to make rava cake. I have already preheated this. So, it is a very hot. What is meant by preheating? At the bottom of this cooker I have added lots of salt. Spread a thin layer of salt. Its better if you use baking soda instead of salt. If you are using aluminius cooker, Then do spread a layer of baking soda. When you remove baking tray out, And when cooker is hot, then add 1/2 cup vinegar or water to baking soda. Base of aluminium cooker becomes clean. If you bake the cake by adding layer of baking soda. Or else you can use salt too. I have placed a dish that comes with cooker. You can use any other dish in place of it. Cover with lid and preheat the cooker on medium heat for about 10 minutes. Many times people are worried if we use cooker lid, do we need to remove it’s gasket ot ring? Will the valve get damaged due to heating for longer time? To avoid all that, I am not using cooker lid. I am using a simple glass lid that we get with any pan. Let’s preheat this on medium heat for 10 minutes. What is meant by preheating on medium heat? Let’s see different settings of gas stove. Here I have a gas stove. It has 4 burners. These are 2 regular small size burners. Which we get with any stove. Even if you have 2 burner stove, It has this one small burner. This is medium size burner. Any stove has this medium size burner too. If you have 2 burner stove Then is has a small and a big burner. This is another burner. This is biggest. I don’t use this for recipe or cooking.It has a speciality. It has a small burner at the centre. I will turn it on for you. This is very high heat. When I turn it to lowest then only central burner is on. When I make biryani Or any rice and I say cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes, Then I switch on only central burner. Biryani rice is nicely cooked. It gets very low heat. When I make anything in pressure cooker, Then I try to use this burner only. This medium size burner. If you have 2 or 3 burner stove then this is the bigghest burner. Medium heat on this means, I turn this on, and put it to the lowest setting. As this is big burner. Base of my cooker is not that thick. It is thin based cooker. So I put cooker on this burner and on lowest setting. If I am making rice or khichadi or masale bhat or cake or recipe of any cookie I use this burner only. And keep on the lowest setting. If you are using aliminium cooker Or it is heavy bottom cooker, then you can increase heat a little. Just a little. You can see. I haven’t taken it at centre. I have adjusted the knob between low to medium heat. If you are using aluminium cooker then. I have rested rava cake batter for 30 minutes. Let’s take this out into a baking tray. When we kept the batter for resting, it was a bit on runny side. Now you can see it’s consistency. It has got neither thick nor thin consistency. It has got nice fluffy consistency. Just before baking the cake, let’s add 1/2 tsp baking powder And 1/2 tsp baking soda. Mix it well with batter. We have added yogurt to this. So when we add baking soda, small bubbles begin to rise. This makes the cake light and fluffy. I am using one of the cooker pots in which we cook dal or rice. I have put a wax paper at its bottom and greased it with oil really good. You can use butter or ghee instead of oil. Let’s pour out the batter into this pot. Let’s spread it evenly. After spreading evenly, let’s tap the pot a little. So that air bubbles present in it will be released. For garnishing I have tutti frutti. Let’s add it. Cake looks attractive due to this. It looks really nice. You can add dry fruits instead of tutti frutti. Let’s put this pot in preheated cooker. Cover this and bake on medium heat for about 35-40 minutes. If you want to bake cake in oven insted off cooker, then it gets baked on 180 degree celcius in about 35-40 minutes. 10 minutes are over. This cake is getting baked. You can see. It is getting puffed. from all sides. This is advantage of using glass lid. We can see what’s going on inside it. I have baked rava cake in cooker for exactly 40 minutes. You can see. Cake gets even browning from all sides. Or it leaves the sides of the pot. It means the cake is baked really good. Or take a tooth pick. Insert it in cake. If it comes out clean, it means cake is baked. I have adde tutti frutti more by mistake at centre. So it is pressed a bit. So don’t add much tutti frutti. Add just a little. Let the cake cool down for about 10-15 minutes. We will transfer it into tray after that. I have cooled the cake for 15 minutes. Let’s loosen the sides with knife. So that it won’t stick to pan. I have cooling rack. Or jali. On which we roast phulka. Let’s take out the cake on this. Wow.. Cake is removed easily from pan. Take off wax paper. You can see. Cake has got nice texture. it has got even golden colour. Let’s wait for 5-10 minutes more to cool down the cake before cutting. The cake has cooled down completely. Let’s cut it now. You can see.
